Almost a decade after its Ayodhya attempt to murder secularism with crowbars, the Sangh Parivar deployed all the other weapons at its disposal to consolidate the dividends of a demolition work. The state apparatus in Narendra Modi's grip connived with the criminals and his political masters in Delhi pretended to discipline `a prodigal son'. Even as a civilised majority was coming to terms with the shocking street-level display of Hindutva fascism, the Chief Minister of Gujarat laughed his way to another electoral victory.
